A letter from our CEO

SportsWareOnLine Athlete Login Issue on Monday

I wanted to explain yesterday’s outage of the SportsWareOnLine Parent Portal. After looking into this, we determined there was no underlying issue with SportsWare.

Yesterday morning a SportsWare user contacted CSMi saying they thought SportsWare had sent confidential athlete information and records to the wrong athlete. We immediately began an investigation, spending the entire day looking at SportsWare audit logs and working with the school. While we could find no evidence of an issue with SportsWare, the user felt an issue still existed so we continued our investigation. Finally, at the end of the day we were able to review the data which had been incorrectly sent to the athlete with the school. The result was that our user was mistaken. Their school uses a completely separate program for some types of athlete data and it was that system which released the athlete data. There is no connection between that system and SportsWare, nor was there any issue with SportsWare.

As the person reporting the issue had been a SportsWare user for a number of years and believed the released data was from SportsWare, we made the decision to temporary suspend the Athlete Portal. We understand the issue a disruption of the service causes for you and have worked hard to maintain our 99.9% uptime, but we had to balance that with the overriding concern for HIPAA compliance and your data security.

Again we apologize for the inconvenience and wanted to explain the unusual circumstances of yesterday and the decisions we made. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
