Q: What Model Biodex machines is the HUMAC Upgrade Compatible with?
A: The HUMAC Update is available with the Biodex System2 (double and single chair) and the first generation of Biodex System3 - Rev 0. We are developing a HUMAC Upgrade for the Biodex System3 – Rev1. The HUMAC is not yet compatible with the Biodex System4.

Q: What does the HUMAC Upgrade for the Biodex include?
A: The HUMAC Upgrade for Biodex includes a new DELL Computer, Flat Screen Monitor, Printer, Keyboard, Mouse, and HUMAC Dynamometer Control Board (HDCB). On the Biodex System2 the HDCB replaces the Biodex Controller front panel (panel with knobs). On the Biodex System3 the HDCB replaces the Biodex servo amplifier front panel located at the base of the computer cart. In addition the HUMAC includes on-site installation and two 1/2 day of operator training. One at the conclusion of the installation and a second 3 months later to be sure you staff is comfortable and productive.

Q: How long does it take to install the HUMAC Upgrade on a Biodex?
A: The HUMAC Upgrade for the Biodex is installed at your facility by a CSMi factory trained representative. It typically takes 1 hour to remove the old hardware and 1 hour to install, test, and calibrate the HUMAC Upgrade.

Q: Does the HUMAC Upgrade for Biodex make permanent changes to the Biodex machine?
A: The HUMAC Upgrade for Biodex is pin to pin compatible with the existing Biodex hardware. This means we install the HUMAC by unplugging the outdated Biodex control boards and plugging in the new HUMAC control boards.

Q: Does the HUMAC Upgrade void my Biodex warranty?
A: The Biodex System3 was sold with a one year warranty and product was discontinued in 2008. Therefore any new product purchase warranties have already expired. If you have an extended warranty the HUMAC Upgrade would void it while installed in the Biodex.

Q: What is the HUMAC Upgrade warranty?
A: The warranty for the HUMAC is one year on all CSMi supplied components. This would include the Computer, Monitor, Printer, Keyboard, Mouse, and HUMAC Dynamometer Control Board.

Q: Can we purchase the HUMAC Software and Interface and install it on our computer ourselves?
A: Based on the 2,000+ upgrades CSMi has performed since 1982 our strong preference is to supply a complete solution. By following this approach if there is a problem CSMi will handle it. However if 1/2 of the solution is supplied by CSMi and 1/2 of the solution is supplied by the customer and not training is provided it potentially creates uncertainty which we would prefer to avoid.

Q: Does the HUMAC Upgrade include Auxiliary Outputs to capture the raw Torque, Position, and Velocity signals?
A: Yes. The HUMAC includes Auxiliary Torque, Position, and  Velocity Outputs. In addition the HUMAC Software includes a control panel to rectify the signal and adjust the gain or offset of the signals.

In addition the HUMAC Auxiliary Output Signals are noticeably cleaner than the signals read from the original Biodex Auxiliary Outputs. The superior HUMAC Signals requires less filtering which means better research data. [Insert Signal Comparison Graphic]

A: Simple. In the clinic the combination of training, user-friendly software, and resistance options that streamline therapy are a winning combination.

In the research lab the Biodex is used to measure maximum human performance. The HUMAC simply does it better.
